The title is actually deceptive, it may not really make you rich rich, but can definately save you some cash :)
Last time I shared briefly on the topmost golden rule of traveling - Travel light. Furthermore, I asked you to take a look at money belt paying attention to the 1st golden rule. Hope you did that and simplified your current shopping list.
The 1st foreign holiday I ever took with the family was when I was Fourteen. The vacation destination was India and this was in the late 1980's. Dad was a military colonel & mom had a small chain of book shops. While father and mother began planning for the actual journey almost Six months beforehand, we read about the different places we would check out every day. The second golden rule for vacation travel is you got it - Plan in Advance!
Dad planned everything with mum using his army precision, lists were made, responsibilities were allocated to me and my sister (who was elder by 3 years) 6 months before we're to journey. We had 3 checklists
Common list - Where all the stuff that everyone would need and use was detailed (toothpaste, nail clipper etc)
Emergency Checklist - In which prescribed medicines, emergency phone numbers etc were listed
Individual List - Where our own individual stuff that we would like to bring were outlined (man! this list ended up being massive!!!)
And then there were the tasks list. Dad would do the tickets, visa, authorization for him to travel (he was still serving), Mum would handle the prescription medications, visits to the doctor, clothes, I & Emily were required to research places we would have liked to visit. All Emily wished to do was see snake charmers & princes (hehe!!), me I desired to see the Mount Everest and ride elephants. We were so far removed from reality (well to some extent far!)
The point I'm attempting to make here is, if you're traveling international for a family holiday, plan as early as possible. Write every little thing down in Two-Three lists and then start taking off items that are not required. I am sure you don't need to bring Five different kinds of moisturizer. You'll need a sunscreen plus a moisturizing lotion.
We're assigned only two bags; I had a duffel plus a little back pack. Planning this early on, resulted us in completing all of our travel requirements & bags buying at the time of sales. This way I assume we managed to save almost 50% of the cost we'd have paid had we all waited till the last minute. Congratulations, you understand why I sent you to money belts
This incredible website is focused on travel needs and is my current favourite. Within a month I have saved near to $650 on bags and also other holiday need items.
Coming back lets recap both travel rules we have learnt up to now
Plan in Advance
And save cash wherever you are able to! Until the next one, dream of your forthcoming vacation!
